A Day Away

When was the last time you slowed down long enough to take in the blessing of God’s creation? If it has been a while, let the observations below motivate you to do it soon. It is refreshing to the soul.

Observations while visiting Yellowwood State Park, Spring 2017;

  • Clear running creeks over the pathways leading to areas carved out for taking in the beauty of the lake

  • Sun glistening on the rippling water…gentle breezes blowing by
  • Geese gliding into their landing…wings flapping to break the wind…splashdown…honking all the way (tried several times to capture a picture, but phone camera wasn’t fast enough)
  • Geese playing together in the water

  • A mother goose protecting her young in the nest she formed on a tiny little island just offshore

  • Warm sunlight kissing my face
  • A peninsula jutting out into the lake allowing one to see beyond the edge of the cove
  • The green of Spring spreading up the hillside, carpeting the forest floor
  • A sweet puppy sitting quietly…taking in the beauty of all that was going on around us
  • A young father fishing with his son for the first time
  • A family having a birthday picnic
  • Children frolicking over the hillside
  • A sweet older couple pausing on a bench to chat and look out over the lake
  • Turtles on fallen logs at the water’s edge
  • A father and son kayaking together on the lake
  • A father and son mushroom hunting in the woods
  • A puppy batting at minnows in the water

What are you waiting for? Grab your Bible and go! On this particular outing, my husband and son hiked the trails hunting for mushrooms. Meanwhile, I sat on a point near the lake, read my Bible, did some writing, and thanked the Lord for all that I was seeing around me. It was wonderful!

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”
